In a small city called Castle Rock, in New Jersey, there are probably more upstarts wanting to make it big than there are those who just want to get a college degree. Surviving high school is always the worst, at Castle Rock High School just like every other. There are students who plan to become doctors, students who only have boys on their minds, students who want to famous, and students who want to get scholarships for their intellect. Just your average high school kids. But this high school is tainted, with many secrets, and dark pasts. It's not easy to survive this small world surrounded by gossip. There's always someone's life to ruin, someone who's got everything, but then gets broken. It's impossible to have a perfect life here, since girls love to start rumors and gossip about people behind their backs, and boys love to make fun of others, and yes, surprisingly, also enjoy spreading gossip.

And if you could only let it be, you would see...

The students of Castle Rock in particular know that something unusual has been going on lately. These 'mysterious disappearances' that the police keep talking about. The old man on the news channel commenting on the unknown whearabouts of people. And there's one thing that connects them all...they all go to Castle Rock High School, and they've all been friends since grade school. It was first thought that the kidnapper was after teenage girls, probably to rape them. But then, one week, to the surprise of everyone, the captain of the football team was taken. Things were only going downhill from here. Now, this unknown kidnapper had the whole city scared, and that guy knew it. The only known bit about him, was that he was a tall, dark brooding man, with facial hair. Only one person had managed to find this out while hiding, and watching as he took the next student.

But, while all this crazy mystery goes on, so does life. Love blossoms as school continues along. And, a new group of boys come out as a band. The three brothers are the new heartthrobs, and nearly all the girls want to be with them. Yes, there are those who find themselves disgusted with the popular idea, but end up listening and nodding their heads to this new beat. In school hallways, spring has made many hearts come before their heads. Like the basketball player becoming obsessed with the geek. And the geek actually crushing on the basketball player's best friend. Drama still carries on in Castle Rock. Kissing all around, people holding hands as they walk through the halls, it's all normal.

It's high school, and even with these kidnappings, and rumors of some insane guy with a gun circling, life goes on.
